The history of Medway Queen

We invite you to discover the history and fascination of Medway Queen.

Launch photo – PS Medway Queen was launched in Troon, Scotland, in 1924
1930s photo – She served as an excursion steamer on the Thames Estuary until September 1939
Wartime – The ship served as a naval minesweeper throughout WW2 and played her part in the Dunkirk Evacuation
Post war – Medway Queen returned to excursion service in 1947
Isle of Wight – She was taken to a marina on the Isle of Wight and served as The Medway Queen Club from 1966 to 1974
Bristol rebuild – After being purchased for preservation she was eventually rebuilt in Bristol with the support of the National Lottery
Medway Queen moved to Gillingham in November 2013
She was towed to Ramsgate for hull maintenance in 2021
Gillingham - Medway Queen is now berthed at Gillingham Pier where she is open to the public on most Saturdays
