MEDWAY QUEEN ART AND PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION
Every year the Medway Queen joins in with the national “Heritage Open Days” weekend and this year we are collaborating with MidKent College to mount an Art and Photographic exhibition on board the ship. Students at the college are working on exhibits for the event and will also contribute to event planning and management. The entries must have a maritime theme but within that they can be virtually any subject; shipping, nature, weather, recreation – you name it. Entry is open to all. There will be no charge for exhibiting your work but if it is sold a percentage of the sale price will go to the Medway Queen Preservation Society for restoration of the ship. Entries must be delivered to Gillingham Pier on Friday 8th September and the show is open to the public on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th. Entries can be retrieved from 3pm on the Sunday but you risk losing a last-minute sale if collected too early. |
Because the event is part of the Heritage Open Days weekend there is no admission charge to the ship or visitor centre but the gift and book shop will have high hopes of making sales and you can of course buy from the range of exhibits in the show. We plan also to put on a display of the volunteers restoration work in the workshops and someone will be there to help if you have any questions – or if you want to join our band of enthusiastic volunteers.
Terms and conditions apply to entries in the exhibition so download the entry booking form (below) for full details.
