"THE LIGHTER SIDE"

"The Lighter Side" - An online collection for Heritage Open Days 2023 relating to Medway Queen and concentrating on less serious, fun aspects of this famous ship's website and promotional activities. Explore the lighter side of our ship's restoration and history: quizzes and games, jigsaw puzzles, odd facts and items from our collections. On a more serious note gain an insight into what happened at Dunkirk in 1940 through records kept at the time by officers and crew and the diary of a young lady living near Guildford station where many of the evacuation trains paused for refreshments.

COLOURING CHALLENGE

Download the colouring sheet from the icon (right) and colour it in as neatly as you can. Draw your own background behind the ships and colour that too. Scan the picture to a JPG file and send by email to press@medwayqueen.co.uk We will add it to the online gallery on this page.

If you cannot print the picture send a large (A4) stamped addressed envelope to: Medway Queen Gallery, 2 Drury Close, Swindon, SN4 8EL and we will print and send it to you. If scanning is a problem you can send your finished pictures to this same address and we will scan them for you. It is not a competion in the true sense and there are no prizes but a selection of the pictures will appear in our members' magazine, "Full Ahead"

"CELEBRITY" ENDORSEMENTS

We talk to a wide variety of visitors at shows and events. Here are some of the most memorable.

We ran a series of model shows in conjuction with what was then Kew Bridge Steam Museum. In 2005 the "little people" (below)
decided they needed their own show. Welcome to the "Woodlanders' Boat Show"! They went on to other events afterwards.
