Saturday 28th June, the Medway Queen had four special visitors Mrs Joan Parkin and her son Richard and Mr and Mrs Armour. The reason for the journey from Cheshire was to present a bronze plaque that they had found forty years ago while on holiday on the IOW. The plaque commemorated the re-building of the ship, by Thorneycroft’s of Southampton, from war service to peace time pleasure steamer. Mrs Parkin found the Medway Queen story on the web, and to the ship’s web-site, and decided it was time the plaque was re-united with the ship. Mr Brian Burton accepted the plaque and said it would have a place of honour on the ship”.
