Trustees and volunteers needed

The society's Transition Grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund includes recruitment of trustees and volunteers. The priority is Trustees/Directors with financial management and fund-raising expertise but we need other Trustees /Directors and volunteers to work in event management, PR & advertising and education/outreach. Enhancements to the operation of the ship as a tourist and educational attraction will also require more volunteers in order to increase the opening hours.

I am sorry to have to tell you all that Rodger died on Boxing Day afternoon after a long battle with cancer.

Rodger and Margaret were a great help on Reading Group stands, especially the annual show at Alexandra Palace where we are always busy and takings are quite high. Despite living in St. Albans they managed to get down to Kent and help at open days on the ship and at Gillingham Pier on several occasions. Notably they helped on board for the busiest period down in Ramsgate last May, all at their own expense. Rodger grew up in Herne Bay and remembered the ship in service; he could always talk enthusiastically about the ship and her restoration.
