Our Chairman, Mr Brian Burton has written the following:

Dear Members,
She’s back at long last! At least now I won’t be asked that question anymore ‘when is she coming back?’ Now we must start thinking of the future, in the past month or so there has been criticism by some people,
Let me make it perfectly clear, the objective of this project as I see it is to refit the PS Medway Queen to be a museum for Dunkirk, but with the ability to steam, and to carry passengers. She will also be able to steam around to her ports in the Thames estuary, which is the ultimate goal.
How do we achieve this?
We achieve this by involving young people, i.e. apprentices. This has endless possibilities, with catering, and even seamanship. After all, young people are the way forward, without them; the ship won’t have a future.
She will be an asset to the community, where groups and organisations can hold events, have a meal or it can even be a venue for the arts! We have a long way to go, at the end of year our funding with H2C and the Lottery will run out, but we must not now give up on what we are doing, we have achieved so much.

Of course there will have to be some changes, we will need administrative staff, and of course work shop supervision if we are to carry on with apprenticeships and working with young people.
What we have achieved so far is held in higher esteem with the European Union, the HLF and a significant amount of charitable trusts, let alone Medway Council who has supported us in the H2C project, and have pledged to keep supporting us.
I know that some members may find this hard to take, after all nobody likes change, but its change that brought us to where we are now.

Brian Burton, Chairman
