Saturday 21st April sees MQ's Visitor Centre volunteers in action on two fronts: First we have the Model Boat Meet in the workshops on Gillingham Pier with a host of model boats for you to admire. Tony Phipps' model of Medway Queen and Jack Snary's "Review of the Fleet" make a welcome return visit along with local clubs and other individual modellers. This year, the models will be displayed in the society's workshops. Admission to the Visitor Centre and the model boats is FREE of charge; ship tours will be charged as normal. At the same time Medway Queen will also be represented at The Medway English Festival in the Riverside Country Park, Lower Rainham Rd, Gillingham, ME7 2XH. We are taking the "Carnival Float" model and with careful planning you could fit both events into your day. See www.medway.gov.uk/leisurecultureandsport/events/englishfestival for more details. Following all this activity we have the auction of Mick Dean's two donated paintings of Medway Queen's Hull Rebuild coming up in Bristol on Thursday 26th - just over a week away now. Raid the piggy bank, tell all your friends and lets beat the auctioneer's estimate.
