Sadly, we have been informed that long term supporter and volunteer Mike Johnson passed away on 30th July following a heart attack a few days before. We send our sincere condolences to his family and friends. Mike was an electrician and did fantastic work with the team, with fellow electrician Ken, who was ably assisted by his wife Frankie, when the ship was at Damhead Creek.

Mike also wrote a great book, of which we still have copies, about the ship at the creek, through to dismantling and thence to the shipyard. Again, sure friends join me in sending our condolences and thoughts to his wife, Kathy, and all his family and friends.

John Kempton (Hon. Chairman MQPS)

Update (2nd August) from Ron Vant and John Kempton: Mike Johnson's funeral will be held at 3pm on Tuesday 7th August at St Mary's Church Upchurch, with burial in the church grounds.

No flowers please but donations can be made to the Parkinsons charity if anyone wants to make one. Wake to be held afterwards at the Barnyard, Upchurch.
