The Bow Rudder -which was fitted as a modification to the Medway Queen in 1933 after she was damaged in a collision with a pier- is once again in full operational order. The first job for our engineers was to get the Main Shaft refurbished and re-fitted. This was followed by the refurbished Deck Wheel Housing and finally all the Chains, Wire Ropes, Pulleys and Equipment. Most of which had been re-manufactured. The engineers tested the operation of the Bow Rudder on the morning of 20th October 2014.
Bryan Hulley Site Manager On the 1st November 2014, our Vice-Chairman John Kempton took part in the Canterbury KM Abseil Challenge from the roof of the new Premier Inn, Canterbury in support of MQPS.
There was a total over over £4000 raised for many different charities. If you were one of the people that donated to John Kemptons abseil, we thank you. |
