We recognised the need to expand the range of our sales goods easily available on line some while ago and that process has now begun - just in time for Christmas!

The Medway Queen books were joined by last year's "Medway Queen Club" publication recently, so you can order it directly online instead of messing about with order forms, and now Mike Johnson's book detailing the hull dismantling before the rebuild has also been added.

Navy blue Medway Queen tee shirts, polo shirts and sweat shirts are now available on line as well. Each carrying the "heroine of Dunkirk" logo and available in 4 sizes.

The other options are all still on the website. You can order railway wagons and ship models from Reading Group as before by downloading the order form or by sending payment and details via Paypal to [email protected] Note that all railway wagons are very limited stock and supplies of existing models will run out very soon now. You will also find an old fashioned mail order list with a wide range of items if you prefer to shop that way.

Saloon Window Refurbishment

7/11/2017

Four years on from the rebuild in Bristol and delivery back to Medway the need for maintenance and upkeep is always there. The saloon windows are a case in point where the Medway weather has gradually removed the varnish and will start to attack the timber frames unless something is done. The volunteer team is designing a modified means of securing the windows so they can be removed from inside the ship for maintenance in the future. That will speed things up considerably next time. Attention is being paid in the design to sealing the windows in place and to their final appearance which must be in keeping with the saloon decor. For this first refurbishment, a safe means of access to the windows from outside the hull has been devised for their removal before cleaning and re-fitting, which is now in progress. The windows are being removed a few at a time, cleaned and re-varnished and then refitted using the new method.  We are delighted to acknowledge support from the Pirates Cave Chandlery of Rochester, www.piratescave.co.uk, for this project with the possibility of more help from them in the future.

Expedition to the Isle of Wight

1/11/2017

Once again the intrepid members of our Reading Support Group are making the hazardous sea crossing from the "North Island" to the Isle of Wight, on Friday 3rd November. This time we are promoting Medway Queen at the "Wightrail 2017" model railway exhibition in Medina Leisure Centre, Newport. The exhibition is open on both Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday 10am- 4.30pm.

If you are on the Island come and see us. We'll have the Medway Queen books and souvenirs for sale, our own promotional wagons and news of a new paddle steamer DVD production due for publication in a few week's time. There will be plenty for everyone to see at the show.

We will have a display of photos of course and a novelty model railway which even has its very own Medway Queen promotional stall busy raising funds and awareness.
