The Medway Queen volunteers are back and striving to make up for lost time!
The replacement Purser's Cabin was more or less complete in the workshops and has now been re-assembled on board in its proper place, just astern of the funnel. There is some interior fitting to do and the roof will require a fibreglass coating to keep the weather out. This will be done by the volunteers and they will give the forward companionway cover a similar weatherproofing treatment.
Plans are being laid for further work in the coming weeks and for the expected trip to Ramsgate's slipway where we shall take advantage of the facilities and get as much work done as possible.
This week's board meeting will be able to confirm some of this and will address the plan to re-open the ship to Saturday visitors - more detail soon. Donations to cover the costs of materials and contracts for the 2021 programme are coming in but more are (always!) welcome. More volunteers in all departments would also help.
