On Monday the 4th November 2014 the Dedication Ceremony of the new Ship's Wheel, which operates the forward rudder, took place on board the Medway Queen. The new wheel is dedicated to the memory of the late Michael Ratcliff, son of Mr and Mrs Bob Ratcliff.
The wheel and brass plaque, which was covered by the Ships Flag were unveiled by Bob Ratcliff and his wife Margaret. Bob spoke of his experiences on board the ship and also his memories of his son Michael. Vice President, Mrs Noreen Chambers, spoke of the early days when Bob was a Committee Member of the Medway Queen Preservation Society. Vice Chairman, John Kempton, thanked Mr & Mrs Ratcliff, on behalf of the Society, and escorted our guests on a tour of the ship. A group photograph was taken which included those who had worked on the installation of the new wheel together with Chris Camp, Chief Engineer, and Brian Hulley, Site Manager. . Comments are closed.
