A memorial service was held aboard Medway Queen on Sunday 2nd October to celebrate his life and his contribution to the ship’s restoration. The service was attended by his friends and was conducted by Deacon Pru Cahill. The ship looked resplendent on one of the highest tides of the year on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Our thanks must go to Pam & Mark Bathurst and Noreen Chambers for organising the event. Refreshments were served after the service which gave everyone a chance to mingle and catch up on events and gossip. Brian Goodhew, who was the galley boy 63 years ago, returned to the galley to serve teas and coffees to the guests. This was a truly fitting farewell and “thank you” to Marshall. A memorial plaque has been manufactured and presented to the ship for display in the aft saloon.
