We all have our own personal memories that can be included in the Medway Queen story. There are many names of people that have contributed their time and skills to bring our little ship to where she is today and it is their work that makes it possible to celebrate the Medway Queen’s 90th birthday this April, we are having a Birthday Party Weekend on 26th and 27th April.
April 23rd (Wednesday) is the actual date of her launching. The ship will be dressed overall for that day. Saturday 26th will be an open day at Gillingham Pier for society members and the public. We would like to invite as many ex crew members as possible to “re-join” their old ship. The ship and visitor centre will be open and light refreshments available. Contact Brian Goodhew on 01795 843317 for more details or look on www.medwayqueen.co.uk. On Sunday 27th at 2.30pm we will be holding a service of thanksgiving and a blessing of the ship and we will include the laying of two wreaths. The first will be in memory of those who fell at Dunkirk and veterans who have since passed on and the second, in memory of our society members and supporters, who have not lived to see our gallant ship afloat again and moored "alongside". Members of all faiths and denominations are most welcome to attend and it is hoped that many of you will attend this important occasion. Refreshments will be available afterwards. For further details contact the Mark and Pam using the e-mail address; [email protected] or by telephone 07970 942125 Comments are closed.
